A prime aim of our organisation is to raise awareness of the effects of violence within the community and to all involved professionals, which will hopefully help to reduce the duration of the problem. In situations of domestic violence the victim will have lost all their confidence and self-respect. We believe in enhancing the dignity and self-respect of all those that use our service. Our main value remains helping families to overcome the factors arising from domestic violence, by providing practical, emotional and psychological help to families through various support services. WDVSS has a good record in relation to anti-oppressive practice in service provision and its equal opportunities policy is a model for many other organisations. WDVSS is a pioneer in the preventative and innovative methods it has developed to work with individuals, families and the communities they live in.
